A Unique Ramadan

The Holy Month of Ramadan is being observed "SILENT" following its preceding traditions due to CORONA-VIRUS PANDEMIC. the month has begun around the world but it looks very different than it has in years past. people cant go to masajids to offer prayers and taraweeh salat. Sehar and Aftar feasts have lost somewhere. the roads and streets are empty and only Ramadan transmission can be observed on television and social media platforms. many holy sites remain empty including MECCA AND MEDINA in Saudi Arabia, AL-AQSA mosque in Jerusalem is also vacant. worshipers are not allowed to go masajids and are suggested to stay at home to stay safe. ALLAH ALMIGHTY also ordered us to observe precautions in such situations. it is not against faith in HIM. The Holy Prophetsa recognized and preached the importance of travel bans and quarantine in places contaminated with disease in order to mitigate the spread of illness. He said,

“If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; and if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

Many religious scholars express disapproval to lock masajids and abstain people to go for taraweeh in Ramadan. it is clearly observed in above hadith that it is not against our faith to isolate is such situations. To avoid crowds and refrain touching and shaking hand which cause the viral is also seen in the acts of
 Holy prophet (S.A.W)

The Holy Prophetsa practiced social distancing as well. It is reported that a leprous man once wished to pledge his allegiance to him, an act that would require him to touch or hold the Holy Prophet’ssa hand. Keeping his distance, the Holy Prophetsa kindly sent word to him that his pledge had already been accepted and that he should return home. (Sunan Ibn Majah)
